I’m suzanne shaffer
First and foremost, I am passionate about writing. I have been writing since high school and in case you wondered, that was many years ago.
Fast forward many years to marriage, children, and a mortgage that required me to get a part-time job as a desktop publisher, sparking my interest in publishing.
I raised a son and daughter while starting my own graphic design business out of my small garage. As the medium changed, my clients began outsourcing their work online and I realized I needed to reinvent myself if I wanted to keep working from home. I have always been an entrepreneur.
A friend suggested I share my knowledge of college planning with others and that’s how my college blog began. I wrote and published a self-help book for parents of college-bound students and sold it online. As a means of marketing it, I started blogging about all things college related.
To make a long story short, my blog jump-started my freelance writing career which I have been happy in for over 10 years. I love working with editors and small business owners to create content and help them grow their businesses.

My college advice has been featured online in the Huffington Post, Yahoo! Finance, U.S. News and World Report Education, CollegeXpress, and more.
I have also been a freelance writer for CollegiateParent, UniversityParent, TeenLife, and Road2College. In the past, I have written for Zinch/Chegg, Classes and Careers, Winterline Study Abroad, and Galtime online magazine.
My articles have been featured in print publications created by UniversityParent, CollegiateParent, and Teenlife Media as well as in the book College Bound and Gagged by Nancy Berk.
I have created content for my own blog, ParentingforCollege.com, since 2009 with more than 1600 posts generating substantial traffic. In addition, I have created content for colleges, educational consultants, college search sites, parenting sites, and more. I am adept at working with editors and providing original content tailored to SEO specifications.
